Boys of Tomorrow (2007 Film)

Boys of Tomorrow (Korean: 우리에게 내일은 없다; RR: Wooriege Naeileun Eopda) is a 2007 South Korean drama film directed and written by No Dong-Seok. The film explores the complex relationship between two brothers, Ki-Soo and Jong-Dae, as they navigate the challenges of early adulthood in a difficult social environment.

Plot

The story focuses on Ki-Soo (Kim Byeong-Seok), who acts as a surrogate father to his younger brother, Jong-Dae (Yoo Ah-In). Ki-Soo works as a valet driver while harboring aspirations of becoming a rock drummer. Their family life is marked by the absence of their father and the influence of their mother, who is portrayed as a religious fanatic.

Jong-Dae, who works washing cars, struggles with the psychological impact of a childhood injury caused by his brother. As the brothers transition into adulthood, they drift into different paths. Jong-Dae eventually finds work at a brothel, a situation that prompts their mother to intervene and demand that Ki-Soo protect his younger brother, forcing Ki-Soo to confront his responsibilities.

Production and Release

The film was produced by Kim-Jho Gwang-Soo with a production budget of approximately US $350,000. It was released in South Korea on May 17, 2007. The film has a runtime of 91 minutes. It was screened at the 2nd Korean Film Festival in Paris in December 2007.
