Botchan (2016 TV Movie)

Botchan is a 2016 Japanese television movie adaptation of the 1906 novel of the same name by Natsume Soseki. The production was broadcast on Fuji TV on January 3, 2016, and was directed by Masayuki Suzuki with a screenplay by Atsuko Hashibe.

Plot

The story follows a young man from Tokyo, known as Botchan, who possesses a strong sense of justice and an aversion to dishonesty. He accepts a position as a mathematics teacher at a middle school located in a remote village. Upon his arrival, he encounters a rigid and challenging environment, struggling to navigate the complex social dynamics among his colleagues and the students. He finds himself particularly at odds with the school's assistant principal, who wields significant influence over the institution.
