Black Out (2024 South Korean TV Series)

Black Out is a South Korean television crime thriller series that aired on MBC from August 16 to October 4, 2024. The drama is based on the 2010 novel Snow White Must Die by German author Nele Neuhaus. Directed by Byun Young-joo and written by Seo Joo-yeon, the series follows the story of a man attempting to uncover the truth behind a decade-old murder case.

Plot Synopsis

Ko Jung-woo (played by Byun Yo-han) was a high school student in the town of Mucheon with a promising future in medicine. His life was upended when he was arrested for the murder of two female classmates. Despite having no memory of the event and the bodies never being recovered, he was convicted and served ten years in prison. Upon his release, he returns to his hometown with the intention of starting over, but he finds himself unable to escape the past as mysterious events begin to unfold.

His path crosses with No Sang-cheol (played by Ko Jun), a former elite detective whose career and personal life were ruined following the murder of his bride on their wedding day. After being demoted to the Mucheon police station, Sang-cheol begins to re-examine the circumstances surrounding Jung-woo's original case.

Production

The series was broadcast on MBC in the Friday and Saturday 21:50 time slot. It succeeded the drama The Pork Cutlets and was followed by Doubt. Due to the Chuseok holiday, the broadcast schedule for episode 10 was adjusted, airing on Friday, September 20, 2024, instead of the original Saturday slot.
