Big (2012 South Korean Television Series)

Big (Korean: 빅) is a South Korean television series that aired on KBS2 from June 4 to July 24, 2012. The fantasy-romance drama follows a supernatural premise involving a body-swap between a teenager and a doctor.

Plot

The story centers on 18-year-old student Kang Gyung-Joon, whose spirit is transferred into the body of 30-year-old doctor Seo Yoon-Jae following a car accident. Seo Yoon-Jae is engaged to Gil Da-Ran, a high school teacher who happens to be the teacher of the teenage Kang Gyung-Joon. The narrative explores the complications that arise as the teenager navigates adult life while trapped in the doctor's body, and the evolving relationship between the characters.

Production

The series was written by the Hong sisters, Hong Jung-Eun and Hong Mi-Ran, and directed by Ji Byung-Hyun and Kim Sung-Yoon. The first script reading took place on April 14, 2012, at the KBS Annex building. Initial filming began at a hospital in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, capturing the sequence where the teenage protagonist discovers his spirit has been transported into the doctor's body.

The drama occupied the Monday and Tuesday 21:55 time slot on KBS2, following the conclusion of Love Rain. It was subsequently replaced by Haeundae Lovers in August 2012.

Music

The series featured an original soundtrack, including the song "Still Love" (Geuraedo Saranghae), performed by Bae Suzy, who also appears in the series as the character Jang Ma-Ri. The song, which reflects the themes of one-sided love, was released on July 16, 2012.
