Bichunmoo (2000 Film)

Bichunmoo (also known by its English title Flying Warriors) is a 2000 South Korean martial arts film directed and written by Kim Young-Joon. The film is set against the backdrop of the late Yuan Dynasty, a period characterized by significant social and political upheaval involving Mongol, Han, and Koryo populations.

Plot

The narrative follows Jinha, the son of a Koryo migrant, and Sullie, the illegitimate daughter of a Mongol general named Taruga. Despite the racial and political tensions of the era, the two develop a deep bond and eventually fall in love. Their relationship faces severe challenges when Sullie is forced to relocate to Sohung with her father following the death of her mother. The couple makes a pact to reunite at a pagoda in Sohung during every full moon, but they are ultimately separated by the volatile political climate of the period.

Production and Release

Produced by Jung Tae-Won, the film was released in South Korea on July 1, 2000. It features a runtime of 130 minutes and is presented in the Korean language.
