Bedevilled (2010 Film)
Bedevilled (Korean: 김복남 살인사건의 전말; RR: Kim Bok-nam Salinsageonui Jeonmal) is a 2010 South Korean psychological thriller directed by Jang Cheol-soo. The film's title translates literally to The Whole Story of Kim Bok-nam's Murder Case. It premiered internationally at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival during the International Critics' Week.
Plot
The story follows the harrowing experiences of Kim Bok-nam (played by Seo Young-hee), a woman living on a remote, isolated island. Subjected to systemic abuse and cruelty by the village residents, Bok-nam attempts to escape her environment. The narrative explores the psychological toll of her isolation and the eventual violent turn of events that occur on the island.

Production
The screenplay for Bedevilled was a winner at the 2008 South Korea Film Market Scenario. Principal photography commenced on September 1, 2009, with filming locations situated in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province, South Korea.

Reception and Awards
The film received significant critical attention and was featured at numerous international film festivals, including the Sitges Film Festival, Fantastic Fest, and the London Korean Film Festival. Seo Young-hee received widespread acclaim for her performance, winning Best Actress at multiple ceremonies, including the 14th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival, the 8th Korean Film Awards, and the 13th Director's Cut Awards. The film also secured the Grand Prix at the 2011 Festival International du Film Fantastique de Gérardmer.
