Awaken (South Korean Television Series)

Awaken (Korean: 낮과 밤; RR: Naggwa Bam) is a South Korean television series that aired on the cable network tvN. The mystery-thriller drama premiered on November 30, 2020, and concluded its 16-episode run on January 19, 2021. The series occupied the Monday and Tuesday 21:00 time slot.

Plot

The narrative centers on a series of mysterious incidents occurring in a town that are revealed to be deeply connected to a tragedy that took place 26 years prior. The story follows Do Jung-Woo and Kong Hye-Won as they investigate these modern-day occurrences to uncover the long-buried secrets of the past.

Production

The series was directed by Kim Jung-Hyun and Lee Soo-Hyun, with a screenplay written by Shin Yoo-Dam. Before the final casting was confirmed, actress Han Ye-Seul was offered the lead female role but ultimately declined. The series took over the time slot previously held by Birthcare Center and was succeeded by L.U.C.A.: The Beginning in February 2021.
