Assassination (2015 South Korean Film)
Assassination (Korean: 암살; RR: Amsal) is a 2015 South Korean period action film directed by Choi Dong-hoon. Set in the 1930s during the Japanese occupation of Korea, the narrative follows a group of resistance fighters tasked with executing an assassination plot against pro-Japanese collaborators. The film features an ensemble cast including Gianna Jun, Lee Jung-jae, and Ha Jung-woo.

Plot
The story centers on an assassination mission orchestrated by the Korean interim government. Yeom Seok-jin (Lee Jung-jae), an agent, recruits a team of specialists to eliminate high-ranking pro-Japanese targets. The team is led by the expert sniper An Ok-yoon (Gianna Jun), who is joined by Soksapo (Cho Jin-woong) and Hwang Deok-sam (Choi Duk-moon). As the mission unfolds, a contract killer known as Hawaii Pistol (Ha Jung-woo) and his associate Younggam (Oh Dal-su) are hired to intercept and eliminate the resistance team.

Production
Principal photography for Assassination commenced on August 27, 2014, in Shanghai, China, and concluded on January 31, 2015, in Paju, South Korea. The final scene filmed involved actors Ha Jung-woo and Oh Dal-su.


Reception
The film achieved significant commercial success in South Korea. On August 15, 2015, Assassination became the 12th South Korean film to surpass 10 million ticket sales at the domestic box office. It was the first film to reach this milestone in 2015. This marked the second time director Choi Dong-hoon achieved this feat, following his previous work, The Thieves.
