Akira Terao (寺尾 聰, Terao Akira) is a prominent Japanese actor and musician born on May 18, 1947, in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Over a career spanning multiple decades, Terao has established a reputation for his performances in both television dramas and feature films, earning recognition from major Japanese cinematic institutions.

Acting Career
Terao has appeared in numerous high-profile film and television productions. In cinema, he is recognized for his work with celebrated directors. He portrayed Taro Takatora Ichimonji in Akira Kurosawa's epic historical drama Ran (1985) and played the lead role of Ihei Misawa in Takashi Koizumi's After the Rain (2000).

He won the Japan Academy Prize for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for his work in After the Rain (2001) and again for Half a Confession (2005), alongside receiving the Blue Ribbon Award for Best Actor for the latter film.
