Akira Tanaka (Japanese Television and Film Director)

Akira Tanaka (Japanese: 田中亮) is a Japanese television and film director born on April 3, 1979, in Japan. He has directed numerous television drama series and theatrical feature films, primarily collaborating with Fuji Television.

Career

Akira Tanaka has built an extensive portfolio of work spanning both television dramas and films. His television directing credits include numerous series broadcast on Fuji TV, starting with projects like Iryu: Team Medical Dragon 3 in 2010 and BOSS Season 2 in 2011. Over the following decade, he directed episodes for popular drama series such as Rich Man, Poor Woman (2012), Last Cinderella (2013), Code Blue Season 3 (2017), and Unsung Cinderella: Midori, The Hospital Pharmacist (2020).

In addition to his television work, Tanaka has directed several feature films. He notably helmed entries in The Confidence Man JP franchise, including The Confidence Man JP: The Movie (2019), The Confidence Man JP: Episode of the Princess (2020), and The Confidence Man JP: Episode of the Hero (2022). His subsequent film credits include Ichikei's Crow (2023) and Black Showman (2025).
