Ace Attorney (2012 Film)
Ace Attorney (Japanese: Gyakuten Saiban) is a 2012 Japanese legal drama film directed by Takashi Miike. The film is an adaptation of the Capcom video game series of the same name, which debuted on the Game Boy Advance in 2001.

Plot
Set in a near-future version of Japan where the legal system has been overhauled to address rising crime rates, the film follows defense attorney Phoenix Wright (Ryuichi Naruhodo). Wright faces off against his childhood friend and rival prosecutor, Miles Edgeworth (Reiji Mitsurugi), in a high-stakes court system where trials are limited to three days. The narrative centers on Wright's efforts to defend his client, Maya Fey (Mayoi Ayasato), and later his attempt to clear Edgeworth's name when the prosecutor is accused of murder.



Production
The film was directed by Takashi Miike and written by Yukiko Ohguchi and Takeharu Sakurai. It was produced by a large team including Naoki Suganuma and Minami Ichikawa. The film premiered internationally at the International Film Festival Rotterdam on January 27, 2012, before its theatrical release in Japan on February 11, 2012.
