A Virtuous Business (Korean: 정숙한 세일즈) is a South Korean television drama series that aired on JTBC from October 12 to November 17, 2024. The series consists of 12 episodes and was broadcast in the Saturday and Sunday 22:30 time slot. It is a remake of the 2016 British television series Brief Encounters, which aired on ITV.

Plot

Set in the rural village of Geumje in 1992, the narrative follows four women who embark on a door-to-door sales venture involving adult products. Each character enters the business for personal reasons, ultimately finding financial independence and forming deep bonds of friendship through their shared experiences.

Main Characters

Han Jeong-Suk (Kim So-Yeon): A housewife and former beauty contest runner-up who turns to sales to overcome financial hardship.
Oh Geum-Hui (Kim Sung-Ryoung): A woman from a wealthy background who joins the business after a life of relative boredom.
Seo Young-Bok (Kim Sun-Young): A mother of four living in poverty who seeks to improve her family's living conditions.
Lee Ju-Ri (Lee Se-Hee): A single mother and beauty parlor owner who joins the venture to add excitement to her life.
Kim Do-Hyeon (Yeon Woo-Jin): A police officer who arrives in Geumje with a mysterious background.

Production

The series was directed by Jo Woong and written by Choi Bo-Rim. It occupied the JTBC weekend time slot following Romance in the House and preceded The Tale of Lady Ok, which premiered on November 30, 2024.
