A Violent Prosecutor (Korean: 검사외전; RR: Geomsawejeon) is a 2016 South Korean crime comedy film directed by Lee Il-Hyeong. The film stars Hwang Jung-Min and Gang Dong-Won in the lead roles.

Plot

Byun Jae-Wook (Hwang Jung-Min) is a prosecutor known for his aggressive and uncompromising investigation style. During an interrogation, a suspect dies, leading to Byun's arrest and subsequent 15-year prison sentence. Five years into his incarceration, Byun encounters a charismatic con man named Chi-Won (Gang Dong-Won). Recognizing that Chi-Won possesses the skills needed to operate outside the prison walls, Byun uses his legal expertise to help secure Chi-Won's acquittal. Byun then enlists the con man to help him execute a plan to expose those who framed him, while Chi-Won simultaneously seeks opportunities to escape Byun's influence.

Production

The film was directed and written by Lee Il-Hyeong. Principal photography commenced on May 18, 2015, and concluded on September 14, 2015. It was produced by Sanai Pictures and distributed by Showbox.
