A Stitch of Life (Japanese: Tsukuroi Tatsu Hito) is a 2015 Japanese drama film directed by Yukiko Mishima. The film is based on the manga series of the same name written by Aoi Ikebe, which was first published by Kodansha Ltd. on March 11, 2011.

Plot

The story follows Ichie Minami, a dedicated dressmaker who operates a small shop inherited from her grandmother. Ichie maintains a commitment to traditional craftsmanship, utilizing an old sewing machine to create custom garments for individual clients. In accordance with her grandmother's wishes, she refuses to expand her business into a commercial brand, preferring to focus on the personal relationship between the tailor and the wearer.

Production

The film was produced by Itaru Kurosawa and Yasushi Udagawa. Principal photography commenced on March 1, 2014, and concluded later that same month. The production utilized locations in Kobe and Kawanishi, both situated in the Hyogo Prefecture of Japan.
