A Field Day (Korean: 운동회; RR: Woondonghwe) is a 2018 South Korean family comedy film written and directed by Kim Jin-Tae. The film explores the life of a young girl named Seung-Hee, played by Kim Soo-Ahn, as she deals with the challenges of elementary school and the hidden complexities within her family.
Plot
The story centers on 9-year-old Seung-Hee, a competitive girl who struggles with the prospect of losing. Her personal life is complicated by a school crush on a boy who is interested in someone else, while her home life is marked by various secrets held by her family members.
Production
The film was directed and written by Kim Jin-Tae, with production handled by Kim Nam-Hae and Kim Jin-Tae. Principal photography for the project took place between November 3, 2015, and December 13, 2015. The film held its world premiere at the Jeonju International Film Festival between April and May 2016, before receiving a wider theatrical release in South Korea on March 22, 2018.
