A Cruel Attendance

A Cruel Attendance (Korean: 잔혹한 출근; RR: Janhokhan Chulgeun) is a 2006 South Korean crime-comedy film directed by Kim Tae-Yoon. The film explores the desperate measures taken by two men who turn to kidnapping to resolve their mounting financial debts.

Plot

Oh Dong-Cheol (Kim Soo-Ro) is an ordinary salaryman and family man who finds himself in severe financial distress after losing money in the stock market. Facing pressure from a loan shark, he teams up with Cheon Man-Ho (Lee Sun-Kyun), who is also struggling with debt. The pair devises a plan to kidnap a child for ransom, but their initial attempt fails when the parents do not respond to their demands. Seeking a larger payout, they target Tae-Hee (Ko Eun-Ah), a troubled high school student from a wealthy family. The situation spirals out of control when Dong-Cheol receives a phone call informing him that his own daughter has been kidnapped, complicating their criminal scheme.
