50 First Kisses (2018 Film)

50 First Kisses (Japanese: 50回目のファーストキス, Hepburn: 50 Kaime no Fasuto Kisu) is a 2018 Japanese romantic comedy film directed by Yuichi Fukuda. The film is a remake of the 2004 American motion picture 50 First Dates.

Plot

The story follows Daisuke Yuge, a man working as a tour guide in Oahu, Hawaii, who also pursues an interest in astronomy. His life changes when he encounters Rui Fujishima at a local cafe. Despite falling in love with her at first sight, Daisuke discovers that Rui suffers from memory loss resulting from a past accident, which complicates their budding relationship.

The film was directed and written by Yuichi Fukuda. Production took place on location in Hawaii, with filming lasting approximately one month. The film was distributed by Sony Pictures and released in Japan on June 1, 2018.
