34th Japan Academy Film Prize

The 34th Japan Academy Film Prize ceremony was held on February 18, 2011, at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa in Minato, Tokyo. The event honored outstanding achievements in Japanese cinema for films released in 2010. The ceremony was hosted by Tsutomu Sekine and Takako Matsu.

Major Award Winners

The thriller Confessions, directed by Tetsuya Nakashima, was named Picture of the Year. Nakashima also received the awards for Director of the Year and Screenplay of the Year for his work on the film. The animated feature The Borrower Arrietty was awarded Animation of the Year.

Acting Awards

The performances in the film Villain were highly recognized during the ceremony, with the film securing several major acting awards:

• Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role: Satoshi Tsumabuki (Villain)
• Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role: Eri Fukatsu (Villain)
• Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role: Akira Emoto (Villain)
• Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role: Kirin Kiki (Villain)

Technical and Foreign Film Awards

The film 13 Assassins received significant recognition in technical categories, winning awards for Cinematography, Lighting Direction, Art Direction, and Sound Recording. The award for Outstanding Foreign Language Film was presented to Avatar.
