2037 (2022 Film)

2037 (Korean: 이공삼칠; RR: Yigongsamchil) is a 2022 South Korean drama film directed and written by Mo Hong-Jin. The film centers on the life of a 19-year-old girl who faces a sudden and tragic shift in her circumstances, leading to her incarceration.

Plot

Jung Yoon-Young (played by Hong Ye-Ji) is a 19-year-old student living with her deaf mother, Kyung-Sook (Kim Ji-Young). While balancing her studies and part-time employment, Yoon-Young becomes involved in an unfortunate incident that results in a murder conviction. Sentenced to prison, she is assigned the inmate number 2037. Within the prison environment, she encounters a group of cellmates who provide her with unexpected support and care as she navigates her new reality.

Production

The film was directed by Mo Hong-Jin, who also wrote the screenplay. Production was managed by producer Kim Dae-Geun. Principal photography for the film commenced on May 25, 2021, and concluded on June 18, 2021.
